The European safety standard for refrigeration systems and heat pumps: refrigerant classification (flammability/toxicity), charge limits per room, machine-room ventilation and leak-detection requirements.
What evidence should a candidate have?
Training or project references with flammable refrigerants (A2L/A3 — propane) and larger installations designed to EN 378.
Why it matters for staffing
As natural refrigerants take over, technicians comfortable with EN 378 flammables are scarce and command premium placements.
