EN ISO 5817Welding
EN ISO 5817 — weld quality levels B, C, D
What is it?
Defines how good a weld must be: level B (strict — bridges, offshore, pressure equipment), C (standard industry) and D (basic). Inspectors grade imperfections like pores or undercut against these limits.
What evidence should a candidate have?
Quality level named in test reports, WPQR/WPS documents or project references (e.g. “executed to ISO 5817-B”).
Why it matters for staffing
Tells you instantly whether a welder has worked at demanding quality (B) or only basic fabrication (D) — a key placement filter.
