EN ISO 9606Welding

EN ISO 9606 — welder qualification test

What is it?

The international exam that certifies a welder for a specific process (e.g. TIG 141, MAG 135), material group, thickness and position. Each certificate covers exactly what was tested — nothing more — and must be revalidated regularly.

What evidence should a candidate have?

A certificate per process, listing process number, material, positions (e.g. PF, H-L045) and validity date, signed by an examiner or certification body.

Why it matters for staffing

A CV saying “certified welder” without valid 9606 papers is a claim, not proof. The certificate range decides which jobs the welder may legally do.
