Cranes — EN 13000, ISO 9926-1 and national operator licences
What is it?
EN 13000 is the European safety standard for mobile cranes; ISO 9926-1 defines minimum training of crane drivers. In every EU country operating cranes additionally requires a national licence per crane type (tower, mobile, overhead), often plus rigger and signaller certificates.
What evidence should a candidate have?
National crane licence naming the type and validity, medical fitness, and load-chart competence shown through project references.
Why it matters for staffing
Crane work is a legally sensitive, high-liability niche: a fully licensed operator with tower + mobile papers is one of the highest-margin placements in construction.
