Aluminium & special processes — 9606-2, ISO 10042, ISO 13919

What is it?

Aluminium welds follow their own rules: welder qualification EN ISO 9606-2, quality levels ISO 10042 (the aluminium 5817) and, for electron-beam/laser welding, ISO 13919. Aluminium punishes poor technique with porosity and hot cracks.

What evidence should a candidate have?

A 9606-2 certificate (material groups 21–26), AC-TIG/MIG aluminium references (thin sheet, boats, rail vehicles) and RT results on aluminium.

Why it matters for staffing

Certified aluminium welders are far scarcer than steel welders — shipyards, rail and automotive pay a visible premium for them.
