Directive 2009/104/EC — work equipment and work at height

What is it?

The EU framework obliging employers to let workers use equipment (ladders, scaffolds, MEWPs, forklifts, cranes) only after documented training, and to organise work at height safely (guardrails first, PPE as last resort). It incorporates the former 2001/45/EC height rules.

What evidence should a candidate have?

Certificates for work at height, MEWP/scaffold/forklift training with dates, plus medical fitness where required.

Why it matters for staffing

This directive is why "no certificate, no site entry" — verified training papers are the difference between a same-day start and a rejected worker.
