EN 12812Construction
EN 12812 — falsework (temporary support structures)
What is it?
The standard for structures that temporarily CARRY loads — shoring towers and formwork support for concrete decks and bridges. Unlike access scaffolds (EN 12811), falsework failure means structural collapse, so design classes and assembly discipline are stricter.
What evidence should a candidate have?
Formwork-carpenter references with system shoring (tower systems, drop-head systems), assembly per layout drawings and load-class awareness.
Why it matters for staffing
Concrete frame projects live on falsework crews — carpenters who assemble supported slabs by drawings are perennially short across the EU.
