Roofing standards — EN 516, EN 517, EN 612

What is it?

EN 516 covers walkway and step products on roofs, EN 517 roof safety hooks and anchor points (where workers clip in), EN 612 gutters and downpipes. Together with the work-at-height rules they define professional roof work.

What evidence should a candidate have?

Work-at-height certificate with date (mandatory!), roof-type references (tile, metal, flat with welded membranes) and any Dachdecker/NPK vocational papers.

Why it matters for staffing

Roofers are on every EU shortage list and legally cannot work without height papers — a documented roofer with membrane-welding skills is a premium placement.
