EN 12195-1Transport & driving
EN 12195-1 — cargo securing on road vehicles
What is it?
The European calculation standard for load restraint: lashing capacity, friction, angles, number of straps. Police and inspectors use it at roadside checks — badly secured cargo means fines, liability and often the driver's fault.
What evidence should a candidate have?
Load-securing training (part of code 95 modules or standalone), plus practice with specific cargo (coils, machinery, timber).
Why it matters for staffing
Drivers who secure loads by the standard protect the client from fines and damage claims — a competence worth asking about explicitly.
