Directive 2006/126/EC — EU driving licence categories
What is it?
The EU licence system: B (car), C1/C (trucks), C1E/CE (with trailers), D (buses). Categories have validity dates and medical requirements; CE + code 95 is the full professional package for heavy haulage.
What evidence should a candidate have?
Both sides of the licence — categories, expiry dates and codes; verify CE specifically, C alone does not allow heavy trailer work.
Why it matters for staffing
Placement errors often hide here: a "truck driver" with only C cannot pull a semi-trailer — always read the licence, not the CV claim.
