Tachograph & driving times — (EU) 165/2014 and (EC) 561/2006

What is it?

Two linked EU regulations: 165/2014 mandates the digital tachograph and personal driver card recording all driving; 561/2006 sets maximum driving times (9–10 h/day) and minimum rests. Violations mean heavy fines for the employer too.

What evidence should a candidate have?

Valid driver card, and a clean record — ask about past infringements; experienced drivers manage their times without dispatcher babysitting.

Why it matters for staffing

Fleet clients are liable for drivers' violations, so a driver who provably masters driving-time rules is a lower-risk, higher-value placement.
